Coconut oil, this essential ingredient

We see coconut oil everywhere. Balms, creams, shampoos, treatments... It seems essential in the compositions! It must be said that it is useful in cosmetics, soap, and even in cooking.

Coconut oil

Coconut oil is imported from Africa, Asia, the Pacific and Central America.
The coconut palm is a very tall tree that produces 50 to 150 fruits per year.

To obtain coconut oil, the fresh flesh is mechanically pressed (and not dry, otherwise it is copra oil)

Coconut oil is naturally solid at room temperature.
When heated, it becomes liquid.

Coconut oil has many benefits:
For example, its cultivation does not require the use of fertilizers or pesticides.
Cold pressed, it is of high quality, retains all its characteristics including a very pleasant fragrance and taste. For this, it must be chosen virgin and extracted by cold pressing, unrefined.

However, it has two main drawbacks:to pick it up, you have to climb very high and very often monkeys are exploited to do this work.
Its importation has a significant environmental impact due to the distance traveled to reach our European countries.

Coconut in cosmetics

In addition to smelling really good, coconut oil has various very interesting characteristics in cosmetics.

It contains a lot of lauric acid, this saturated fatty acid which has strong affinities with the skin. It also contains vitamins E and A which are powerful antioxidants.
It is very nourishing which makes it an ally for dehydrated skin.
It can be used pure or found in our cosmetics under the name "COCOS NUCIFERA OIL".

It is also a soft and soothing oil, which is greatly appreciated in summer.
It is smoothing and nourishing for hair, leaving it shiny and strong.
It is even used to asphyxiate lice!

One study has even shown that coconut oil is ideal for destroying the bacteria Streptococcus mutans which attacks tooth enamel. As a result, we do not hesitate to use coconut for the maintenance of our mouth!

You can use the dry pulp of the coconut to make scrubs.
In soap, we like coconut for its detergent side and its foam, but be careful not to use too much at the risk of having an irritating soap.

The August "Summer Escape" box offers you a treatment that you can use daily on both the body and the hair, one of the two ingredients of which is obviously coconut! Accompanied by its famous accomplice, shea butter, Exsens coconut shea oil will fulfill your need for hydration!
It is also obviously found in Savon Stories' "normal hair" solid shampoo!

In short, she's got it all, the coco!
