Disposable hygienic protections, why do without them?

Disposable tampons and pads , despite their convenience, are single-use products highly polluting . In addition to developing bad habits, single-use protections contain carcinogenic manufacturing products (which have been shown by several scientific studies) and present a high risk of toxic shock .

There is therefore always a good reason to forget your usual disposable sanitary protection and to choose to use a less dangerous and non-polluting product. Several alternatives are available to you:Menstrual panties and washable sanitary napkin, cup, washable panty liner, menstrual sponges … You can try several of them and find out which one suits you best. If you have any doubts, know that these "new" protections do not present any risk of leaks or release unpleasant odors , these are received ideas. The products are adapted to your flow and your morphology and ensures optimal safety and comfort, without any bad smell!

Menstrual panties

What are period panties?

Period panties closely resembles normal panties. The difference is that you can wear it during your period without any additional protection. You can keep it on for up to 12 hours in a row, depending on your menstrual flow. The heavier your flow, the more often you should change your periodic panties . Do not hesitate, the first time, to test the capacity of your new protection according to your menstrual flow:as soon as there is a small leak, it is a sign that you need to change your sanitary panties . Period panties are ideal for when you're at home, because you can change them easily. There are usually two panties for the day and one menstrual panty for the night.

Why is it great?

Period panties are very comfortable. You can practice all your daily activities thanks to it, without any risk of leakage or discomfort. It looks like normal panties and remains discreet. Once you get used to using your period panties , your old disposable hygienic protections are quickly forgotten, we promise! The sanitary panties is the most comfortable and easiest alternative to disposable protections. We recommend that you use panties certified GOTS (for Global Organic Textile Standard) or Oeko-Tex 100 for optimal quality and an eco-responsible product .

Washable sanitary napkins

An excellent alternative to disposable products

The washable towel is the second alternative to single-use hygienic protections that we recommend. It closely resembles a disposable sanitary napkin:dimensions, thickness and absorbency are comparable. But your new sanitary pad is made with environmentally friendly, organic products that do not pose a risk to your health. If you are used to wearing disposable pads, reusable sanitary pads are made for you! You will see very little change and your habits will not be upset. They are also suitable for people with urinary leakage or for teenagers having their first period.

How to use it?

In general, washable towels clip onto the underwear (at the crotch), thanks to their wings and snaps. There are different models of sanitary napkins:from S to XL depending on your menstrual flow. As with the panties, once your towel is removed, you must rinse it with cold (or lukewarm) water, rubbing a little. You can then place it in the washing machine (60°C maximum) and let it air dry. We advise you to take at least 5 protections to be able to alternate comfortably without running out of sanitary pads . You can wear it for up to 12 hours on its own, but you can also use a menstrual cup if you wish. Washable pads are perfect for going out or for work, as you can easily carry them in your bag and change them discreetly.

In our opinion, the best alternatives to disposable sanitary protection are period panties and reusable pads . It's up to you to choose what suits you best according to your menstrual flow, your habits, your desires, your needs and your constraints. Both of these “new generation” protections are reliable, comfortable, safe and environmentally friendly. So which one are you going to test?
