End of animal testing in the EU

After more than 20 years of campaigning, animal testing will be banned in the EU on 11 March 2013. Breaking news, which some have been waiting for for years!

Breakthrough
The new law means that new cosmetic products and ingredients placed on the market in the EU cannot be tested on animals anywhere in the world, including outside the EU.

Good signal
The Body Shop and Cruelty Free International have been fighting for years to pass this law. March 11, 2013 will therefore be a special moment for them. The EU will set a good example for the rest of the world with the new law against animal testing. In China, for example, animal testing for cosmetics is still mandatory.

New step
In 2004, a ban on animal testing for finished cosmetic products was introduced in Europe. The ingredients were still allowed to be tested. In 2009, ingredient testing was banned in the EU. However, an exception is made for three animal experiments to validate alternative experiments. The total ban will be introduced in the EU on 11 March 2013.
