Burned, now what?

Burned, now what?

The beautiful weather takes its toll on your skin. After a day (or more) in the sun, you only see in the evening how burned your skin actually is. Ouch, ease the pain with these tips.

Prevention is better than cure
Do you notice that you are burning during the day? Keep rubbing and cover any parts of the body that burn too much. This way you can limit the damage.

Shower ritual
Take a shower that is not too hot and pat your skin dry afterwards. You probably don't even get it in your head to dry your burnt skin violently…

Lubricate, lubricate, lubricate
Use an aftersun to cool and care for the skin. Do not just lubricate the burnt areas. The sun dries out your skin and greasing with aftersun (or another moisturizing cream) is not an unnecessary luxury.

From the kitchen
Don't have anything at home to soothe your burned skin? Use a few slices of cucumber, yogurt or buttermilk to cool your skin.

The next day
It is wise to avoid the sun at least between 12.00 and 15.00 the next day. Furthermore, stay in the shade as much as possible and cover and protect your skin well, so that your skin has time to recover.

Blisters
When you have a severe burn, the blisters can form on your skin. The pain can even make you nauseous and sick. You could also have sunstroke. When in doubt, always call the doctor.
