Keratosis pilaris There is a good chance that you suffer from keratosis pilaris. It is a not serious skin condition, where keratin accumulates around the hair follicles. That causes small bumps and red rough skin.

You are not alone
Many people suffer from keratosis pilaris. It usually occurs on the back of your upper arms, but it can also affect your legs, back, buttocks, or cheeks. It cannot be cured, but it can be reduced.

How do you take care of your skin if you have karatosis pilaris?

  1. Exfoliate your skin with a product containing salicylic acid or fruit acid (AHA or BHA).
  2. Some people benefit from gently exfoliating the skin. Use a washcloth or a very mild scrub for this. Don't be too heavy-handed, because there is a good chance that you will irritate your skin.
  3. After showering, apply a slightly oily cream to your skin.
  4. Do not scratch bumps or dry spots.
  5. If you suffer from keratosis pilaris, get a referral to a dermatologist.
