With these 6 tips you can apply self-tanner easily and perfectly

We don't need the sun for the foreseeable future. With a self-tanner you still get that sun-tanned tan. That's how you do it.

Today's self-tanners don't make you orange. However, applying it remains a precise job.

1. Prepare yourself

Exfoliate your body beforehand, paying extra attention to the extra dry areas such as your knees, elbows and heels. Lubricate the dry patches on your skin with body lotion first. On dry skin you get dark spots faster from the self-tanner.

2. Take your time

If you want to apply the self-tanner 'just as quickly', there is a greater chance that the end result will not be completely even. Take the time to apply yourself and let the self-tanner dry thoroughly.

3. Apply self-tanner very well

By lubricating well, you ensure that there are no streaks. Do you also use self-tanner for your face? Then take care around your nose, eyes, ears, hairline and lips. Your skin discolors more easily there than in the rest of your face. If necessary, use a make-up sponge to apply self-tanner.

4. Correct mistakes quickly

The sooner you discover that you've used too much self-tanner somewhere, the easier it is to correct it. Use scrub or a washcloth to limit the damage. Afterwards, you can dab a little bit of alcohol on the darker spots.

5. Wash your hands after application

Wash your hands well after you have finished applying. If you don't, you'll soon have brown palms. Do you lubricate your entire body with self-tanner and are you busy for longer? Then it is best to wash your hands in between.

6. Keep track

How quickly a self-tanner gives results depends on the product you use. When in doubt, opt for a light shade and build up the color by using the self-tanner for a few days in a row. Once you have a nice tan, use self-tanner once or twice a week to maintain the color.

Tip:Are you using self-tanner for the first time? To be on the safe side, don't do that the morning before you want to go outside with bare legs.
