What is CoolSculpting?

You hear about it more and more, but what exactly is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculpting was developed by scientists at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, a teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School. They discovered that fat cells can be selectively destroyed by a cooling process. The fat cells under the skin are cooled with a special device, they freeze, then die and are naturally removed by the body.

This is how CoolSculpting works

CoolSculpting can only be used for superficial grease. These are fat cells that lie just under the skin and above the muscles. The area to be treated is marked and a gel pad is first applied to protect the skin from the cold. To cool the fat cells, an applicator vacuums the skin with the fat layer. This method is not suitable for treating visceral fat. Visceral fat lies behind the muscles and around the organs, such as belly fat. This fat can only be reduced through exercise and a healthy diet. You will therefore also receive personal eating advice.

Where can you undergo CoolSculpting treatments and what does it cost?

There are several CoolSculpting clinics in the Netherlands. You can find them via Coolsculpting.com. A treatment lasts on average half an hour to an hour, depending on the treatment plan and which area is being treated (double chin, back, buttocks…). The price is completely clinic dependent.
