1. Your skin is not equally thick everywhere

The skin on your eyelids is the thinnest at 0.05 millimeters. The skin under your feet is 1.5 millimeters.

2. Heavy bones? Heavy skin!

About 16 percent of your body weight consists of the weight of your skin.

3. You lose a lot of skin cells

You lose 30,000 to 40,000 skin cells per minute. Wow!

4. No hair grows on scars

Scars are caused by damage to the second layer of skin, the dermis. A scar differs from the rest of your skin because of a change in collagen. As a result, no hair grows on a scar.

5. Your skin helps to keep your body at the right temperature

When you are overheated, your blood vessels dilate. The heat can therefore leave your body through your skin. When you're cold, your blood vessels actually contract.
