6 things you didn t know about nail polish

You can be allergic to it, dark colors wear off faster and four other facts about nail polish you didn't know.

1. ladders

You can do more with nail polish than just paint your nails. A well-known trick is to use clear coat on a ladder in your tights, so that the ladder doesn't get bigger. You can also coat cheap jewelry so that they do not discolour. Or apply a little lacquer to a thread of yarn, this will make it easier to get it through the eye of the needle. With colored lacquer you can carefully repair patent leather shoes and you can make your keys recognizable.

2. Allergic

Did you know you can be allergic to nail polish? The allergic reaction is usually caused by the substance formaldehyde. There are more and more nail polishes without this substance, including from Clinique, The Body Shop and SpaRitual.

3. Wear out faster

Dark colors wear out sooner. These lacquers contain more pigments, making them thicker. As a result, a piece of paint breaks off faster. Prevent this problem as much as possible by applying several thin layers of nail polish.

4. Make it yourself

You can make nail polish yourself. Mix eyeshadow powders to your favorite color, add the powder to clear coat and mix well with a toothpick.

5. Cool and dark

Preferably keep nail polish in the refrigerator or in another dark and cool place. Heat and light cause the paint to thicken faster and it can even change color.

6. Do not shake too hard

If nail polish doesn't dry smoothly but there are small air bubbles underneath, you probably shook the bottle too hard. It is better not to shake nail polish, but gently roll it through your hands. Is it really necessary to shake? Then preferably wait half an hour before painting your nails.
