What you can do against itching and bumps after shaving

Do you often suffer from bumps or itching after shaving your bikini line, legs or armpits? That is never nice, especially not in the summer! With these tips you can prevent those annoying bumps and itching.

Causes

One of the most common causes of razor bumps and itchiness is using a blunt razor. It is also important to keep your razors clean. As easy as it is, don't keep it in the shower. In this way they rust faster and the quality deteriorates. Do you see rust spots or dirt in the blade? Then throw it away immediately.

Before shaving

Before shaving, it is recommended to exfoliate your skin with a mild scrub. This way you remove all the grease, dirt and dead skin cells that can cause skin irritation. Take a warm shower or bath to open your pores. This will loosen your hair and make it easier to shave. Pay attention! Are you going to shave your bikini line and haven't done so in a while? Then cut the hairs shorter first. So you only have to go over your sensitive skin once.

While shaving

Your skin at the bikini line and under your armpits is very sensitive. Therefore, always shave in the direction of the hair to prevent ingrown hairs. The growth direction of hairs is usually downwards. Also try shaving cream to make it easier to glide the blade over your skin. No shaving cream at home? Feel free to grab your friend or partner's shaving cream. Make sure that the bikini line does not end up in your vagina. This can disrupt the vaginal flora. Therefore, always use an unscented PH-neutral shaving gel.

After shaving

After shaving, rinse your skin well with lukewarm water and close with cold water. This so that the pores close again. Then pat the shaved skin dry with a clean towel. Pay attention! Do not rub. Then apply a moisturizing cream to dry skin. Do not apply deodorant immediately after shaving, but wait at least 10 minutes. Your skin needs some time to recover.
