1. Itching on your scalp? Use less shampoo

Shampoo cleanses your hair, but it also removes the natural oils from your skin and hair. And that while that natural protective layer comes in handy when your scalp itches. You only need a little bit of shampoo to get your hair clean.

2. Do not shower too hot

The warmer the water, the more it dries out your skin and that doesn't do the itching any good. Taking a cold(er) shower has more advantages.

3. Don't wash your hair every day

Give your skin time to recover by giving it at least a rest day in between.

4. Let your hair air dry

That way you damage your skin as little as possible.

5. Switch shampoo

Do you notice no improvement after two weeks? Perhaps the shampoo you are using is too harsh for your skin. Switch temporarily to a milder shampoo for sensitive scalps.

6. Use fewer styling products

Leave your styling products for a while and give your scalp a rest to recover.

7. Do not scratch

Scratching may give you a moment's relief, but in the end it will only make your problem worse. If you do feel the need to scratch, gently press your nail into the skin to soothe the itching. Better yet:leave your scalp alone until you are rid of the complaints.

8. Go to the doctor

Does nothing help and the itching persists? Consult your doctor.
