First aid for makeup stains

First aid for makeup stains

Foundation on your collar or nail polish on your shirt. With these tips you can remove make-up stains again.

Foundation

Accidentally got a smudge of foundation on your blouse? These are best removed with water and vinegar. Put a dash of both on a cloth and dab gently on the stain.

Powder

Is the foundation you messed up powder based or did you mess with loose powder or compact powder? Then vacuum most of it away with the vacuum cleaner and then carefully dab away the remaining stain.

Lipstick

Do not use water on lipstick stains. This will only make the stain bigger and cause the stain to set in faster. The secret is to put a layer of Vaseline on the stain, which will absorb the lipstick. It also helps to dab a cotton ball with a little bit of pure alcohol on the stain.

Eye makeup

Mascara and eyeliner contain a lot of fat. Therefore, wait until the stain has dried before cleaning. After this you can dab with a grease remover such as shampoo and dishwashing liquid.

Nail polish

Nail polish creates nasty stains. Is the fabric not too delicate? Then use nail polish remover or acetone. Put a little on a cotton ball and press it firmly against the stain by holding your finger underneath. Do this over and over with a clean cotton ball with acetone until the stain is gone. You can use methylated spirits for synthetic or delicate fabrics.
