Everything you want to know about dander

It is almost impossible to apply against dry skin with dander. How does such dry skin arise and how do you get rid of it?

The symptoms of flaky skin

You can recognize flaky skin by rough spots and white skin flakes come off on large areas of skin. This often occurs on the lower legs, for example. You not only see it, you also feel it. Your skin is tight, tight and cracks or fine lines can be painful.

How do skin flakes arise?

Skin flakes are caused by a poorly functioning hydrolipidic film (skin barrier). Your sebaceous glands do not make enough fat and cannot form a protective layer that allows the skin to retain moisture. The result is that too much moisture evaporates from your skin and the natural moisture supply is no longer sufficient.

Lubrication has a temporary effect

Applying a lotion sometimes seems to work, but it only has a temporary effect. The flakes often reappear on your skin after an hour. Dry and flaky skin not only needs moisture, lipids (skin oils) also need to be replenished to make the skin soft and smooth again.

A lot of flakes

Do you have extremely dry skin with a lot of flaking? This is called xerosis or xerodermia. It is caused by predisposition, sunbathing too often, weather conditions such as cold and wind, aggressive cosmetic treatments or too strong cleaning products. If it bothers you a lot, pay a visit to your doctor.

Eating pattern

Also watch what you eat:a diet without vitamins A, B and E can lead to flaky skin. Supplements with fish fatty acids (such as omega 3) often help reduce the worst scaling within six months. Regularly rubbing the skin with a rich cream also contributes to smoother skin with a healthier skin barrier.

Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a rapid division of the top skin cells. The result is a disturbed and very strong exfoliation. Psoriasis looks like a skin condition, but it is actually a disease of the immune system. Genetic factors also play a role. However, the actual cause is still unknown. Normal skin renews every 28 days, with psoriasis this is every 6 to 7 days. Psoriasis is absolutely not contagious. You can get psoriasis treated. Treatment can vary from a gluten-free diet to a spa visit to the Dead Sea, creams or light therapy with UV rays.
