This way your nail polish will last longer

This way your nail polish will last longer

If you painted your nails in the morning, there will be another chip in the evening. There are a number of things you can do to keep your nail polish looking great for longer.

1. Start with a good foundation

Clean your nails with a little nail polish remover. Do that even if there are no nail polish residues on it, so you start on clean nails.

2. Use thin layers

Lay your nails in thin layers. Ideally, you should use base coat, two coats of color and one coat of top coat. Let the nail polish dry between each coat.

3. Sealing the paint

The chips usually develop on the edge of the nail. You can seal these edges extra with nail polish. How does that work? After the first coat of color, apply a thin horizontal layer of nail polish to the top of your nail. Then apply the second coat of color all over your nail.

4. Be careful with your hands

Wear gloves when doing the dishes and don't use your nails as tools.

5. Smart Hide

Is one nail damaged while the rest still look good? Redo only the damaged nail. This is very easy with a jar of nail polish remover with a sponge in it. Another option is to apply a little glitter over the chipped edges. Read how to make gradient nails.

6. Use good nail polish

Good nail polish does not necessarily have to be from the most expensive brand. It often differs per person which brand stays on well. Try a different brand every now and then and discover which polish works best for you. The topcoat can also make a difference.

7. Use an electric polishing file

By using an electric polishing file, you can also ensure that your nail polish stays in place. This device has 2 rollers:a gray one to smooth your nails and a white one for polishing. Since you want to use nail polish, only the gray roller applies in this case. Because this roller evens the nail surface and smooths out dents and ridges, you can apply your nail polish in a nice, smooth movement. The result is tighter painted nails, where your paint stays beautiful for longer.
