Essential tips for a fresh make-up look in the summer

It is a fact:the summers in the Netherlands are getting warmer. In 2020 the warmest week since the start of the measurements was measured and in 2019 it was warmer than 40 degrees in the Netherlands for the first time.

That affects how you feel and how you look on a really hot summer day. Not everyone likes going outside in the heat, but sometimes you can't avoid it. You have to go to work, you have an appointment with a friend or you have to go shopping. To get through those hot days a bit fresh, here are some tips for a fresh make-up look in the summer.

Start your look with a fresh base

It's hard not to sweat on a really hot day. Nevertheless, there are a number of tips that you can follow to be as fresh and fruity possible to feel. You will also see that in how you look! Therefore, always start the day with a good cleaning of the skin, even before you apply your make-up. Then submerge your face in a bowl of cold water or get started with… ice cubes! By rubbing an ice cube very gently over your skin, you ensure that the pores close. This makes them less visible and you look fresher. To be honest:such a nice fresh start on a hot day is very pleasant anyway. It also wakes you up, so it's a win-win situation in that regard.

Correcting products instead of a thick layer of foundation

Nobody is happy with a good layer of foundation in the summer. Such a thick layer ensures that your skin cannot breathe, which makes you sweat more. A small layer of this product won't hurt when you just need a boost. In that case, keep in mind that the foundation can fade during the day or disappear with a lot of sweat. Do you want to do something about your face, but prefer not to use foundation in the summer? Then go for a corrective product, such as a green color corrector. This green marker, pen or cream ensures that the redness from your skin is less visible. You can also opt for a purple color that gives your face a fresh glow or a peach color that makes your bags less visible.

Avoid liquid makeup; rather go for powder

One sweats more in the face than the other. A hot summer day is often almost impossible for the first group in combination with make-up. In that case, it is good to know that it is best to go for powder-based makeup. Liquid make-up, such as foundation or eyeliner, runs off faster when you start to sweat. Powder lasts longer and also has other good properties. They give your skin a nice even glow and a good powder ensures that your skin does not look greasy. This can be the case with liquid make-up; this does not feel nice on the skin, especially in summer.

Lipstick in the summer? Check this tip

When you have an important business appointment, a night out with friends or maybe a nice date, many women like to spend a little more time and attention on their appearance. A liquid lipstick in the summer seems like a no go, but it is very possible if you do it in the right way. The tip to make lipstick last longer on a hot day is to use lip pencil under the lipstick. That way, the lipstick has a firm base to stay put. What is extra nice is the fact that by using lip pencil you can also look younger. In that case, use a color that is close to your own lip color for some extra contrast.

Always choose a good fixing spray

Whatever product you use on your skin for a good base; always make sure that you also have a nice fixing spray available in the summer. A fixing spray ensures that everything stays in place a bit, especially on days when you sweat a bit more than usual. In addition, you create a less powdery look, which is also pleasant and above all beautiful. Perhaps the biggest advantage of a fixing spray in the summer is that it provides extra refreshment. You spray this product as a kind of mist in your face, which provides a wonderfully cooling effect. So it can't hurt to spray your face every now and then on a really hot day. This way you will get through the summer!
