Which countries are most satisfied with their skin?

The countries where people are most satisfied with their skin are in North America (27%), followed by Europe (22%) and Asia (14%). This confidence was measured by those who reported being “proud of showing off their skin without anything on it”, with Canada (28%) and the US (27%) leading the way, followed by the UK (25% ), Germany (22%), China and France (20%), South Korea (12%) and Japan (10%). This is according to new research. Globally, women and men were found to have equal levels of confidence (both 20%), but overall confidence is relatively low in all of the countries surveyed.

31% of adults around the world agree that they feel more confident when their skin looks clear and healthy. 23% reported more confidence when their skin looked firm and youthful.

43% of people using social media use photo editing apps and filters to enhance photos of themselves before posting. People in South Korea (79%) and China (65%) admit this most often, and people in Canada (29%) and the US (23%) are the least likely to say so. The top reasons adults use photo editing apps and filters include hiding blemishes, acne and/or uneven skin tone (19%), removing wrinkles or trying to look younger (14%) and improving skin tone. facial contours and shape, for example, removing a double chin, and lifting the jaw (13%).

Nearly half of all people who suffer from acne or blemishes (47%) admit there are times when they don't feel confident in their skin. In addition, Chinese and South Korean people who have ever suffered from pimples or acne admit to postponing an important event or canceling plans with friends because they felt insecure about their skin.

In addition, adults in China admit that they are embarrassed to be seen in public without makeup (22%) and that they would never allow themselves to be photographed without makeup (16%). The countries least concerned about this were Germany and France.

When asked about their top beauty wish of wishes for a toned body, beautiful teeth, perfect skin and beautiful hair, the people of South Korea showed a clear preference for perfect skin (34%) more than everyone else. Adults in China (21%) and Japan (20%) rank perfect skin second to a toned body (53% vs. 46%, respectively).

In exchange for a lifetime of healthy skin, participants worldwide were most willing to give up:chocolate/candy (33%) and social media (24%), than other options, such as holidays (15%), shopping (14%), sex (13%), smartphone (11%) and electronic entertainment (10%).
