What to do if your nails keep breaking

If there's one thing that can really ruin your manicure, it's a broken nail, and for some people, that happens a lot. If you think your nails are particularly prone to breakage or if you just want to strengthen them, there are a few things you can do.

Start with a preventive action
To protect your nails from potential damage that can be caused by regular nail polish application, use a base coat first. This will help nourish your nails and protect you from stains. It also stops all the chemicals in nail polish from getting on your nails. So, if you haven't used it yet, you'd better start!

It is also important to use a nail polish remover that does not contain acetone. This can be harmful to your nails as it can have a drying effect.

Some love and attention
For nails that feel a little rough around the edges or that just need a little love and attention, soaking them can be very helpful. You can use bath oil or even olive oil for this, both will help nourish your cuticles and your nails. After that, make sure to moisturize your hands, paying special attention to your nails.

Finally, be sure to file the nails in one direction only. Going back and forth over the top of your nail can cause them to crack and/or break. And wear gloves when you do the dishes and avoid abrasive surfaces!
