Tips for sunbathing safely under a sunbed

Tanning under a tanning bed may seem safer than tanning in the sun, but unfortunately it isn't.
A tanning session increases the risk of skin cancer by almost 70 percent. Indoor tanning equipment - booths, lamps, incandescent lamps - emit UV radiation. UV rays are grouped with plutonium and cigarettes. And the reality is that artificial sources can produce even more intense rays than natural sunlight. Here are 5 tips to protect yourself from tanning indoors.

1. Once is even too much: It is crucial that you know that no tanning method is 'safe'. Indoor tanning does not provide basic sun protection. Artificial rays are just as damaging as the sun's – and can be even more intense than what you would experience outdoors. And once people start to tan, it can become a habit that becomes addictive and even causes withdrawal symptoms if you try to quit.

2. It's a family affair: Indoor sunbathing seems to run in the family. Not surprising when you consider that children will often follow their parents and the parents who are brown may not be aware of the risks. A higher percentage of sun users come from families who have had skin cancer. That cycle must be ended.

3. Put safe-D first: Sunbathing indoors to get vitamin D makes no sense. Outdoors, the sun's UVB rays can activate the body's D production. But indoor tanning gear primarily emits UVA rays. Plus, there are much safer ways to get D:food or supplements that don't cause cancer.

4. For a healthy glow, "sun" selfish: For people who want a sun-kissed look, there are many self-tanner options. In addition to eliminating the risk of UV cancer, self-tanners eliminate the premature aging – wrinkles, age spots, leathery skin – that causes sun exposure.

5. Sunbathing is not the same as 'phototherapy': Skin conditions such as psoriasis can be treated with light therapy, which is carefully monitored by a doctor. In contrast, tanning equipment is not adapted for medical use and the personnel in a tanning salon have no medical expertise. So avoid sunbathing indoors for self-treatment.
