This is how you take care of your hair when you are on vacation

Going on vacation is of course a lot of fun. But your hair care routine can suffer. After all, you want your hair to look its best in all those holiday selfies you'll be taking, right? Especially if you're planning a beach vacation, there are a few steps you can take to keep your hair in tip-top shape during the vacation. So follow our tips below for taking care of your hair.

Go to the hairdresser for your holiday
Do not visit the salon to trim any dead ends that could weigh down your hair. Whether you're simply trimming a few inches or wanting to make a more drastic change, you've got plenty of options. And having a fresh, healthy haircut before you leave will make maintenance during your trip a lot easier!

Bring a nourishing shampoo and conditioner
Make sure to bring a moisturizing system of shampoo and conditioner to help nourish your strands during the summer months or on vacation when hair feels dry from time spent in the sun and poolside. If you think your hair needs extra nourishment, use a hair mask every week.

Air dry your hair
It may be a good idea not to use your blow dryer and let your hair air dry. Plus, holidays are all about relaxing, so give yourself a break from your normal hair styling. Work with your hair's natural texture when it's hot outside instead of fighting it.

Wear a big hat
While it might be nice to spend all that extra time in the sun when you're on vacation, it might not be so wise if you're coloring your hair. UV rays, water and heat styling can all affect color. If you have colored hair, one of the things you can do to protect your hue is to wear a wide-brimmed hat.

Straighten your hair before jumping in the pool Ah, there's just something so relaxing about lounging around the pool – but if you're planning to take a dip, a good rule of thumb is to take a few hair care measures first. That's because chlorine can make hair dry. Wet and condition your hair before swimming in chlorine, wear a cap and use a specially formulated swimming shampoo after you leave the pool.

Go for a braid Make it a little cooler in the hot weather by keeping your hair back from your neck. One of our favorite holiday hairstyles is a braid — and there are so many different braiding techniques that you can try a different one every day of the week!

Use a protective spray
While you certainly can't control the weather, you better be prepared for it. Before stepping outside into super-humid air, spray a protective spray on your hair that helps tame unruly frizz while protecting against moisture.
