Coconut oil in your hair, a godsend!

I remember it so well:As a little girl I sat at the kitchen table and my mother started her ritual. First she heated special oil in the microwave for a few seconds and then put it in my hair. She then let this soak in for 15-20 minutes, after which she went through it with a large afro comb.

The result was that my hair became very soft and easy to comb. Yes, a miracle! When I was in high school I went unfortunately , consider the coconut oil in my mother's hair rituals superfluous. Like every teenager, I questioned everything and so did the only remedy that improved my hair in the slightest.

Looking for better hair products than coconut oil

In the meantime I had found L'oreal products and discovered that the large jars of yellow and blue gel cost me less than 1 euro. And that is ideal of course if you have an adolescent wallet. This in combination with the use of mouse and the many styling of my curls demanded on my 18 e their toll. My hair was completely damaged.

What the hell had gone wrong? How could it be that all my hair products had no positive effect and that my hair only became drier? I was reminded of my childhood, when my mother used coconut oil for my hair. It was because then w very shiny and healthy. But how exactly did my mother do that with that oil in my hair?

Anyway, I have now found out that my mother's rituals were not so unwise. Coconut oil in your hair works wonders and I have been experimenting for the past few years. I tell you below how to prepare and apply a coconut hair mask. Are you completely anti coconut, then read this article about hair and skin care with banana, that also helps.

Make sure that you use 100% pure coconut oil!

Coconut oil in your hair, making a hair mask

  • Put a few tablespoons of coconut oil in a bowl (depending on your hair thickness).
  • Warm the mixture in the microwave until it has melted.
  • Test the oil on the inside of your wrist to make sure it isn't too hot. You don't want a burnt scalp!
  • Divide your hair into sections and spread the oil over your entire hair.
  • Put on a swimming cap or tie a plastic bag on your head and let the mixture soak in.
  • Rinse the mixture from your hair after 30-60 minutes.

Result:Soft and frizz-free hair. Even with me with my curls! Also perfect as hair care after you've had a day at the beach, because then hair care is very much needed!

The benefits of this hair mask:

  • This hair mask is especially ideal for damaged hair. Coconut oil penetrates deep into your hair and prevents the loss of proteins. The oil really penetrates to your hair roots and nourishes it intensively.
  • It prevents dehydration and gives your hair more shine. With regular use, it could also make your hair thicker and stronger.
  • Coconut oil is suitable for all hair types.
  • It is relatively cheap and with a jar of coconut oil you can do it for a while. There are few hair masks that cost so little.

Possible disadvantages of coconut oil:

  • Keep in mind that coconut oil is fat. If you don't rinse it well, you can keep a greasy look and nobody wants that of course.
  • It does take some time to use this hair mask, the longer you leave it on the better.

Tip:Coconut oil on your skin

Not only is this oil in your hair a wonderful hair mask, it is also ideal for dry skin. I have been using coconut oil as a body lotion for several years now and I can recommend it to everyone! Because why keep using a body lotion with the idea that it makes your skin soft, when in reality this is due to the amount of alcohol that actually dries out your skin?

Have you ever tried coconut oil in your hair as a hair mask before, or are you going to try it? Then I'm curious about the effects, will you let me know?
