Natural shampoo bars and deodorant; sustainable products in the bathroom

Sustainability makes me happy. We are becoming more and more aware of how important it is as an individual to do your bit for the environment. We are already doing this on a large scale with our solar panels and the separation of waste and the like. But wait, what about all the plastic in your bathroom? How many sustainable products do you already use in your bathroom? We are now a bit more, step by step we discover the shampoo bars and the natural deodorant. And we are happy with it!

Natural bathroom products; deodorant and shampoo bars and much more!

I must admit that it was a bit complicated to get the children to use these sustainable bathroom products. Not that they have anything against sustainability of course, certainly not. But you notice that certain habits are not so easy to break. Once used to shower foam and shampoo from the bottle, the teenage son and teenage daughter were quite surprised when I came up with these bars from Paper &Boo.

Bizarre actually. You used to know nothing but to wash yourself with a bar of soap and now it is very common to use plastic bathroom products. Not necessary and unnecessarily harmful to the environment as those plastic bottles that disappear in the trash after one use. I therefore believe that using natural shampoo bars and natural deodorant in our home should become a habit. It will take some getting used to for the children, but it actually belongs in the row at home of turning off the lights and closing the doors behind your ass. Don't you think so?

Shampoo bars, body bars and natural deodorant

So we now have shampoo bars on a natural basis and vegan-friendly and ditto body bars to wash you with. I also switched to deodorant from a can instead of a spray bottle. All good for yourself, your skin and nature. This is how we make a good start with environmentally conscious alternatives in our bathroom.

The deodorant is spreadable and 100% natural. You simply take a small amount from the can (pea-sized) with your finger and rub it under your armpits. Of course it's best if you do that when you just get out of the shower. Keep in mind that this deodorant does not prevent sweating. It does ensure that your sweat does not smell bad because it prevents odor development because it tackles the bacteria. That is different from most other deo's that are not on a natural basis. They only disguise the sweat smell 😉 .

We simply use the body bars by hand, but for a light scrub you can also use them in a soap bag. Or you can store them in it, whatever you want!

I have these shampoo bars and natural deodorant from Paper &Boo

Lavender shampoo bar also anti-dandruff

I specifically chose the lavender shampoo bar because it is also anti-dandruff. I don't suffer from this myself, but Luc can have problems with his scalp. For convenience, you could just grab the well-known anti-dandruff agents, but those are actually not good for you at all. They temporarily fix the dandruff, but not its cause. Very nice that even in the natural shampoo bars they have an anti-dandruff variant that is just mild for your scalp. I personally like to use the honey variety. Very suitable for curly and somewhat frizzy hair (yeah baby) and extra nourishing and moisturizing.

It's a bit different to get started with a shampoo bar instead of taking liquid shampoo from a plastic bottle, but by now we are completely used to it. You can rub the shampoo bar itself over your hair if you have wet it. But you can also lather the shampoo bar between your hands and then do it naturally in your hair. Both ways work fine!

In addition, I have also started using reusable cotton pads. Cotton pads that are made of bamboo fibers and cotton and that can simply be washed in a washing bag in the washing machine after use. Together with your other laundry. Did you know that we use about 1500 cotton pads per person per year? Bizarre! And then I also used those cotton pads pre-soaked in oil that I was not really satisfied with. The reusable cotton pads I have now are a lot nicer. Certainly so soft for my face and the fact that I also produce significantly less waste with this (just like with the natural shampoo bars) I also think it's a nice idea.

Now only order the bamboo swabs, I forgot those last time 😉 .

Natural products in natural packaging

In addition to taking a step in the right direction with the natural bathroom products themselves, the packaging they use is also 100% biodegradable and made from recycled cardboard.

The only pity is that the bamboo soap dishes are now sold out. Precisely these ensure that your shampoo bars and body bars last even longer because they can dry well because of these soap dishes. Besides that, that bamboo is very cool in the bathroom! Anyway, if you also want to try some more natural products without plastic packaging in the bathroom, I can definitely recommend these bars. Or do you already use natural hand soap and shampoo bars?
