What does the perfect mouth look like? Science answers!

The duck face, this practice which consists in making a kiss in the void the time of a photo (yes well, we do not want to return to the ridiculous side of the trend which for a time flooded Instagram) is proof of this:the luscious mouth has never been as popular as in recent years. And honestly, who has never dreamed of having a – natural mouth! – of Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson or even Monica Belucci? We all plead guilty, right? However, the secret of perfect lips would not lie in the fact that they are particularly generous according to science.

The must? Mirror lips!

A study of 1,000 people from 35 countries (so there's something for everyone!) reveals that it's all about symmetry. A majority of respondents (60%) elected “mirror lips”, in other words of equal size at the top and bottom, as the most attractive mouth shape. In second position, we find the shape that wants the lower lip (below) to be bigger than the upper lip, which was notably popularized by the youngest of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, Kylie Jenner. The young woman has also built her cosmetic empire following this significant physical change obtained by cosmetic surgery.

28 years old, the age at which the lips begin to shrink

Scientists point out, however, that these data are not carved in stone and are likely to change with trends. Cosmetic doctor Julian De Silva, who practices in London, recently determined that the prize for the prettiest lips went to American singer Taylor Swift. [His] lips are perfect. Her mouth is voluptuous and has a heart shape that many women wish to acquire » . And to add about this last specific request:“Heart-shaped lips can be created and defined more precisely with a controlled injection of hyaluronic acid .

The professional says that completely erasing the heart shape of the upper lip is also a regular request, the goal being to have a less defined and therefore fuller mouth like that of Julia Roberts. The size of the lips would begin to gradually reduce at the age of 28, when the natural production of hyaluronic acid and collagen slows down. "Don't smoke, protect yourself from the sun and drink in moderation if you want your mouth to stay fuller longer" , advises Dr. Julian De Silva. These are wise words before considering going under the knife... Well noted!
