What are canker sores?

However, while oral bacteria are said to cause migraines, canker sores are not of infectious origin and therefore cannot be transmitted. In relation to their onset, among the most common causes are:

  • Tiredness
  • Stress
  • Autoimmune diseases
  • Poor oral hygiene;
  • Repeated intake of blood thinners, antibiotics or NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs);
  • Chemotherapy
  • Hormonal disturbances in women's menstrual cycle are also a cause of canker sores;
  • The consumption of certain foods that irritate the oral mucosa, such as crisps, peanuts, oilseeds, lemons, tomatoes.

What treatment should be taken to relieve the pain of canker sores?

If it is important to know the possible cause of canker sores, it is all the more necessary to know how to relieve the unbearable pain they cause. Indeed, recurrent canker sores can be particularly disabling on a daily basis. Fortunately, it is not the natural treatments to relieve them that are lacking. The possibilities are many, the most common being:

  • Essential oils, especially clove oil, are excellent for relieving the irritation that causes canker sores;
  • Honey:applied locally to the ulcer as an antiseptic;
  • Mouthwash with salt water or baking soda solution;
  • Ice:applied to the ulceration to inhibit pain.
