White dress Marilyn Monroe is coming to De Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam

Today, on the day Marilyn Monroe would have turned ninety, De Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam commemorated her birthday. It was also announced that the legendary billowing white dress will be on display in the exhibition about Marilyn's life. This dress was designed in 1955 by William Travilla for the world famous scene in the movie Seven Year Itch. It is one of the highlights of the exhibition “90 Years of Marilyn” with more than 140 other personal belongings of Marilyn.

The exhibition will take place from October 1, 2016 to February 5, 2017. In addition to the well-known white dress, part of her legacy can be visited, including artifacts from her last home on 5th Helena Drive in Brentwood, California. In this biographical exhibition Marilyn's world opens up, with the successful, glamorous exterior, the often lonely interior full of setbacks, and her witty, creative and progressive personality. Determined to make a career in her own way, she achieved the prestige that still captures the imagination of many today.
