This is how you find your own personal style

Finding your own personal style sets you apart from the rest. Whether you're looking for a complete style makeover or you just want to try something new, there are some simple steps you can take when you open your wardrobe every morning. Read the nine steps below to find your own personal style.

1. Know your body shape
The most important thing is to know your body shape and which silhouettes will look good on you. Taking pictures as well as looking in the mirror will help you recognize the silhouettes that look good on you. Honest friends or family can also help you find the things you have in your wardrobe.

2. Find your own recognizable pieces
Most style icons have recognizable pieces that you always recognize. This can be an accessory, a color or a print, or even a beauty trick like red lipstick. Find something that works for you.

3. Invest in items you know you'll be wearing
A successful personal style is one that will last you for years, which is why you should focus on the things you really love. Take a look in your closet and set aside clothes that you will wear for a month. You will soon realize what the most important things in your wardrobe are.

4. Create a mood board
One trick to finding your personal style is to create a detailed mood board with all the looks you love. You don't have to work with sheets, glue and scissors, you can just make a mood board on Pinterest.

5. Recognize the things you never like.
When updating your wardrobe, it's equally important to pay attention to the items that don't feel right. It goes without saying that just because everyone wears a particular t-shirt or jacket doesn't mean you should wear it too.

6. Find colors that suit you
In addition to finding the silhouettes that suit you, also think about color. Find colors that match your skin tone, and test different shades to find the ones that look good on you.

7. Create your own style icons
Don't look at what the magazines consider to be style icons, look for inspiration everywhere, whether it's your stylish boss or your neighbor.

8. Check your wardrobe
The key to personal style is having an efficient, organized wardrobe. Read our article on how to create a minimalist wardrobe here.

9. Be open to a uniform
The word "uniform" may sound boring, but many of the most stylish women we know have one, whether it's for weekends, work or every day. For example, some women always wear black, or jeans, a white T-shirt and ankle boots. And just because you have a uniform you can always rely on doesn't mean it always has to be the same. You can play with variations, for example by adding other accessories.
