This is how you hide your tummy with clothes

Do your pants suddenly feel tight? Can you see your belly under a tight shirt? It doesn't matter how it is, but if you want you can do something about it. Of course, eating better and exercising can help, but usually it's hard to get rid of a muffin top completely. No worries. Here are eleven tips on how to dress to hide your belly.

1. Avoid tight and loose clothing

Most women realize that a tight top accentuates a tummy, but does a large, loose top hide a big tummy? The answer is surprisingly no. A large, shapeless top looks roomy and wide and exaggerates your size. The key to getting it right is to find a top that fits the chest and arms and falls loosely over your stomach without being tight. Clothes with a bit of stretch will help you get a better shape.

2. Draped clothes and ruffles are your friends

Soft clothing that is draped is one way to hide extra fat in the abdomen. Ruffles also work well. Make sure the ruffles are subtle. Too much fabric on your stomach makes it look like you're wearing a curtain and adds bulk.

3. Don't tuck your top in your pants

Tucking your top into your pants accentuates your tummy and is not flattering. Let your top hang or tuck it in halfway.

4. Do not wear a belt

Wearing a belt is like drawing a circle around your widest point. Don't do it.

5. Pull the eye up

If you don't want people looking at your belly, turn their gaze to your neckline and face by wearing the right top. V-neck tops or tops with embellishments or some interesting detail at the neckline are a good way to distract. A nice necklace also works very well to bring out the focus.

6. Try a tunic and leggings

Dark leggings worn with a long, flowing tunic that covers your bum will put your legs in the spotlight and give you a slimming silhouette. Asymmetrical tunics work particularly well to deceive the eye and distract it from the belly.

7. Opt for layers with long, thin fabrics

Thin layers are another good way to distract. For example, a long T-shirt works well under a longer cardigan. It creates the illusion that you are taller than you are.

8. A suitable jacket is a simple solution

A single-breasted jacket that accentuates the waist will flatter your figure. Make sure to wear it open.

9. Wear a good bra

If your breasts are low and your stomach is high, you'll get something in the middle that looks like a big bulge. Wear a good bra to leave some space between your breasts and your stomach and see what a huge difference this makes.

10. Monochromatic colors minimize a tummy

Stick to one shade from head to toe, then add a coat or long cardigan with a pop of color.

11. Avoid folds

Pants or skirts with pleats, buttons, belt loops or a waist detail only add to the tummy. The best is a skirt or pants with a flat front, a wide waistband and no zipper.
