How to take care of your shoes

How to take care of your suede shoes?

You love your shoes and they love you. But in any season, it must be taken care of. Do you live in a rainy area? The first thing to do when buying a pair of suede shoes is to think about waterproofing them. Doing so will protect them from stains and weather. Your shoes will retain a good appearance and above all will not absorb mud or stains. You just need to brush them regularly to keep them looking like new. If you really have dirt, do not hesitate to wash them with Marseille soap. Remember to put mouthpieces on them or, the trick, stuff them with newspaper, so that they do not become deformed. Dry them away from a heat source. There are also special erasers for suede, available in shoe stores or shoemakers.

How to take care of your leather shoes?

For a big occasion or for everyday life, leather shoes are in order. It is easy to maintain them. First remove all traces of mud and dust with a brush. Then coat them with milk, let them dry and apply an appropriate colored shoe polish to your shoes. If you can't find the right color for your favorite pair of pumps, use neutral shoe polish. Milk nourishes the leather while shoe polish is just a cosmetic that provides a shine. Once your shoes are completely dry, grab a woolen cloth for a lasting shine. The most common mistake is to only use shoe polish! Do not hesitate to buy a brand. Avoid taking those applicators that only serve to shine and in no way really nourish the shoe. Know that the inside of a banana peel or olive oil are excellent products for your shoes, so do not hesitate and favor natural and inexpensive products!
