Elizabeth Arden's 8 Hour Cream celebrates its 88th birthday

Among our long-standing beauty essentials, there is the Éclat touch by Yves Saint Laurent, Huile Prodigieuse by Nuxe, Terracotta by Guerlain, Eau Dynamisante by Clarins… and the Crème de 8 Heures by Elizabeth Arden. This magical product that never leaves our kit has just celebrated its 88th anniversary! The opportunity to look back on its incredible success story...

An iconic product since its creation in 1930

It all started at the dawn of the 20th century. Florence Nightingale Graham, a Canadian nurse determined to enter the world of cosmetics, arrives in New York and launches her brand called Elizabeth Arden. Installed on the prestigious 5th Avenue, she then developed a repairing balm, which was first used to treat the legs of her horses. We are in 1930:the Crème de 8 Heures has just been born. If the legend is to be believed, it is thanks to one of its loyal customers that the product was a dazzling success. The latter would have used it to treat the skinned knee of his little boy, healed in just 8 hours. A feat that immediately propelled the product to star status.

A multifunctional miracle cream

This "miracle cream" revolves around two major ingredients:the first, emollient petrolatum, a kind of petrolatum enriched with restorative salicylic acid, and the other, antioxidant vitamin E. If we use it in any season on our roughness, our lips, our elbows, our knees or even our feet, it also calms irritations, isolates minor sores and helps healing. Despite its somewhat peculiar smell, it has survived the generations and 88 years later, we still can't get enough of it. A real nugget!
