How to make a side braid?

1/ Prepare the tools

The key to making a cavalier braid? Avoid the ground being slippery. For this, we texture the fiber with a styling agent. Fine hair, prefer wax, thick hair, choose mousse (it tames frizz). Also plan a brush, a tail comb to trace the parting, an elastic band to finish the braid and a spray of hairspray. You can work in front of a mirror but, as the image is reversed, it is not easier.

2/ Create the texture

Brush the hair then draw the line (in the middle or on the side, it's up to you). To make braiding easier, start the mat from the side of the more skilful hand (=on the right for right-handed people, on the left for others). Distribute the styling product with your fingers:a knob of mousse or a dab of wax (to be heated in the palm of your hand), from the root to the tips.

3/ On your marks, braid!

At the level of the line, determine a basic wick to start the braid (its thickness determines that of the mat). Separate it into three sections. Start braiding tightly at the root:first section 1 over section 2. Then, putting section three over section 1, integrate a section of the loose hair. Continue in this way until you have done the entire outline of the head, or just half (depending on your taste). Finish the braid with an elastic.

4/ Finalize the hairstyle

If you like a clean result:Tame the little hair that hangs back at the root, fixing it with hairspray. Conversely, for a more romantic finish, accentuate the natural side by slightly tousling them with your fingertips.
