Stéphane Lancien for L’Oréal Paris:the hairstyle interview

What are the hairstyle trends for this spring/summer?

There are so many trends that there really aren't any! We see a lot of sophisticated things with ties, but also more "cool" hairstyles with loose hair. One thing is certain:whether the result is natural or not, all of these hairstyles are actually very elaborate. We start by preparing the hair with a brushing to create a beautiful material, then we move on to the hairstyle itself:curling iron, mats, styled/disheveled effect, ponytail... In the end, the result is always elegant and deceptively natural.

Is there a color that stands out as THE color of the moment?

All blondes are trendy, but I'm especially thinking of very light, almost platinum shades. We are starting to see a lot of them in the street. I think it's due to the fact that today we easily find products to maintain this demanding color.

What will be the next go-to hairstyle?

In recent years, the bun has been in vogue. I think the next hairstyle everyone is going to do is the 80s style shell. It's actually much less technical than it seems:1 / we separate the hair into two parts, drawing a parting from one ear to the other. 2/ We bring the hair from the upper section forward and brush it. 3/ If you have very fine, straight hair, you crepe it at the root. 4/ We bring the hair back by forming the hull, then we fix with a veil of hairspray. And that's it!

What do you think are the 3 L'Oréal Paris hair styling must-haves that every woman should have?

I'm not going to be original (it's the fetish product of all studio hairdressers, editor's note), but in the first place, I would mention the Elnett hairspray. It's a multi-purpose product that can create a smooth or messy look, give volume... During the shows, we even use it under the girls' shoes to prevent them from slipping! On a daily basis, it's also used to tame electric hair:just spray the hairspray in the palm of your hand and pass it on the rebels. My second favorite product is Matt &Messy Pomade, which modernizes any messy hairstyle. It gives body to the hair, it's insane on a short haircut. Finally, the last essential is Extraordinary Oil. It's both a treatment, which is used on dry lengths and ends - it's even better on wet hair, under a hot towel -, and a styling product that gives a "wet" look, great for the summer.
