MC1R, the first magazine in the world dedicated to redheads

Freckles have been in the spotlight lately, and that's good! After the flamboyant hair emojis that could appear in 2018, here is the first magazine in the world exclusively devoted to redheads. Dubbed MC1R , its name refers to the gene that determines the color of the skin, hair and hair, and it is above all the key component of freckles. At the origin of this ingenious initiative, Tristan Rodgers, a young man (redhead, of course) of 31 years from Hamburg, Germany, who had initially simply created a project around photography with the participation of some friends Red. “After a few weeks I had interviewed and photographed more people than expected and gathered many interesting insights into being ginger […] I then researched how much it would cost to print some copies of the work done in magazine form for people who have been part of this project “, he explains to the site Metro .

“Redheads have a special bond between them”

After launching a fundraising campaign on the web, the student realized that other people were interested in publishing such a magazine, and pre-orders poured in. “Redheads are one of the smallest minorities in the world and have this special appearance that leaves no one indifferent. […] They have a special bond between them, and it is this very particular “vibe” that I try to transcribe in this project “, continues the creator of MC1R . So what does the magazine contain? Sublime shots of red-haired people of course, models but also members of the same family, and explanatory articles such as “Why do I have freckles? ". Tristan Rodgers thinks his magazine can help readers who find it difficult to face discrimination: “There are red-haired people who don't want to attract attention, but it's a positive project. […] If someone somewhere is not comfortable with their image, it can help them and give them strength .
