The peculiarities of curly, wavy and curly hair

Curly hair is often dry and damaged hair. Indeed, the loops prevent the proper distribution of sebum on the lengths. It gets blocked at the root and the ends are no longer protected or hydrated.

While many would like to have curly hair, it is actually a difficult type of hair to tame. The majority of people with curly hair deal with frizz, unstyled curls and spend hours in their bathroom.

A friend of mine with curly hair (her name is Laura) once confided to me that she washes her hair every day to manage to style it.

It is to help all the Lauras that we have decided to write this article, full of advice and good habits! First of all, using care that preserves the hair fiber is essential.

Organic shampoos for curly hair

First step of this natural routine for curly hair:shampoo! As said above, curly hair tends to be dry and dehydrated. Hence the importance of using a mild shampoo suitable for this type of hair. Organic shampoos are composed of more natural ingredients than conventional shampoos, so they are to be preferred.

Shampoos for curly hair are moisturizing and detangling. You can absolutely use solid shampoos when you have curly hair. At NUOO, we are fans of them because they make our hair look beautiful and reduce our waste (and these are not their only advantages over the liquid).

We recommend the following shampoos for curly hair:

Team tip:don't wash your hair every day! You risk damaging your scalp and hair. When your scalp feels attacked, it produces excess sebum to protect itself, which makes your hair oily, which is rarely the desired effect. we advise you to wash your hair once or twice a week, with a suitable shampoo.

Conditioner to detangle

When you have curly hair, the conditioner is an essential step in the organic routine for curly hair. This treatment moisturizes the hair, but also detangles it. Curly hair tends to tangle faster than others. It is also advisable to detangle curly hair only after the conditioner has been applied in order to avoid damaging it.

Once again, there is no contraindication to using a solid conditioner. These are as hydrating and detangling as their liquid counterparts. Our favorite curly hair conditioners are:

The hair mask to hydrate

To go further in hair hydration, complete your organic hair routine with an ultra-nourishing mask for ends and lengths. Composed of very nourishing treatments such as butters or oils, they restore suppleness and shine to the hair and repair the hair fiber in depth.

The mask is applied after the conditioner and on damp hair. The longer it stays, the more effective it will be. Applied once a week, this treatment will keep your lengths hydrated. For a hydration boost, you can apply a moisturizing mask before your shampoo and leave it on for at least an hour.

Leave-in treatment

Leave-in care, what is it? It is quite simply a treatment that is applied after the conditioner step and that we do not rinse! It is a must in the natural routine for curly hair. The interest of the leave-in treatment is that it allows you to redraw a hairstyle (curls in particular) and to hydrate the hair throughout the day. The two most successful leave-in treatments for curly hair are Kurl Nectar and Boost Curl.

Kurl nectar or boost curl:which one to choose?

Boost curl jelly and the Kurl nectar are the flagship products of a curly hair routine. But which one to choose? Which one suits your hair best? Kurl Nectar is a leave-in intended to nourish very dry hair. The Boost Curl, meanwhile, allows you to redraw the curls and protect the hair from external aggressions throughout the day. If you have curly or wavy hair, you can very well use the Kurl Nectar and then the Boost Curl. A small dab is more than enough. Using too much care will risk giving your beautiful hair a cardboard effect.

The brand Les Secrets de Loly advises people with curly hair to mix a dab of Boost Curl with their favorite smoothie and apply them to wet hair by scrunching. For frizzy hair, it is rather advisable to combine the Kurl Nectar with the Magic Twist to hydrate and soften the hair.

The detangling treatment

If your hair tends to tangle a lot, you can add a detangling treatment to your routine. This can be applied to damp or dry hair. As with the leave-in treatment, the hair will benefit all day from the benefits of the treatment, in particular the moisturizing properties when there are any.

The oil bath

The oil bath is the treatment par excellence to nourish dry hair lacking in hydration. This simple habit will restore vitality and flexibility to your hair. But what is the oil bath? It is a question of coating your hair with one or a mixture of vegetable oils with various properties according to the needs of your hair. Coconut oil, jojoba oil, castor oil, argan oil... You can even add an essential oil, such as tea tree oil, for its antifungal properties.

Leave the oil bath for one hour to a full night for even more efficiency. Simply wrap your hair in a damp microfiber towel. The next day, wash your hair with your usual shampoo and continue your organic routine for curly hair.

Microfiber towels:essential accessory

When we get out of the shower, our first reflex is often to grab a towel and rub our scalp and lengths with it. This is a serious mistake! By doing so, we damage our hair fiber. To properly dry curly hair, the right thing to do is to wrap it in a microfiber towel and press it gently inside. Thus, the towel will absorb excess water.

In addition, terry towels (the ones we all have in our bathrooms) are responsible for the famous frizz. Microfiber and cotton towels, on the other hand, dry the hair quickly while preserving the definition of the curls and without irritating the hair. Above all, do not rub your lengths but sponge them!

We also do not recommend the use of a hair dryer, which is very aggressive and irritating for the hair and the scalp. Nevertheless, if you want to use it, know that you can limit the breakage by using a diffuser.
