#Woman of March - Meeting with La Canopée

March, the month which for us celebrates Women.
Of course, a single day or a single month in the year is not enough, but we will not talk about that.
No. We want to ask you “which woman are you? », and further still, « which woman do you want to be »? We believe that each of you has everything you need inside of you to be who you want to be. Getting inspired to nourish yourself, yes, but everything is already within you.

Joyful, inspiring, sexy, feminine, sensitive, true, enthusiastic, natural, confusing, funny, independent, strong… Be free to be whatever you want to be. Without injunction. Without judgement. Woman and free. Naturally. So, to celebrate together the Woman that we are, meeting with inspiring, touching, creative, enterprising women.Today, meeting with Cécile and Juliette, the founding sisters of La Canopée, the French sensory brand.

Above all, introduce yourself and your brand

We are Cécile and Juliette, we are sisters and we developed the La Canopée cosmetics brand together!
La Canopée is therefore a brand 100% of natural origin, 100% vegan and made in France! It has been a family adventure for 5 years now. Cécile is a chemical engineer and I am responsible for design and communication. It took us 3 years to develop the brand, the formulas, the ethics, the visuals and we have been marketing cosmetics for 2 years now!
We live and work in Grasse where we manufacture all our cosmetics ourselves!

Why did you found this brand? What message did you want to convey?

We embarked on the adventure because we were not satisfied with the cosmetics offer. We wanted 100% natural, effective and ethical! We brought together all the skills to be able to work there and develop the brand we dreamed of.
Nature is so rich and powerful that there is no reason to put any synthetic material on our face. Not only are natural ingredients very effective, but they are also a better solution for the planet! La Canopée is a real desire to democratize 100% natural origin!

What is your definition of female beauty?

The one that suits him! Cécile and I are not too sophisticated, we are not the classic portrait of women passionate about cosmetics. What interests us is to give the tools and the keys to understanding your skin, the properties of each ingredient to leave the free choice to our customers! Taking care of yourself, knowing yourself well, refocusing, these are terms that we hear more and more yet it is so hard to do. A woman is beautiful when she assumes herself, knows herself and takes care of herself as she sees fit!! It's freedom finally!

Which woman do you want to embody every day through your brand?

It is true that being a business leader and representing a brand gives us a duty. That of showing that we can obviously be ambitious both professionally and in our personal lives. This is a very special moment for both of us because after launching La Canopée, we are embarking on a new adventure, more universal this one, we are both pregnant! It is a new dimension that is added to our lives as women and business leaders. This adds to the reflections that we can have on the place of women within companies and in society. We discuss it often.

If we can inspire even the freedom to undertake in our own way and at our own pace without playing wonderwomen, we will already be very happy!

Who is your female role model and why?

There are so many inspiring women and each for good reasons! For my part, I look with wonder at all the women business leaders who have been working hard on a daily basis for years. Seeing them do it gives me a lot of courage and strength.
On the other hand, it is topical, I am very surprised and admiring to see a personality like Greta Thunberg who, whatever one says and whatever one thinks, is THE personality of the year. I am amazed to see such an icon emerge and perhaps a great leader of tomorrow. It commands respect and listening.

What is your favorite quote?

In order not to give in to urgency and stress, we often repeat to ourselves “Chi va piano, va sano” or “who goes slowly, goes healthy”. I think it's an interesting leitmotif that always forces us to sit down to discuss things and not be in a rush.

A message to all women?

We love you ! It's already not bad to send love when you can, to show kindness to each other, to know how to support and support each other. It's all about love and sisterhood!
