How to match the colors of your look?

Before imagining the most stylish looks in the world of menswear, you must first master the basics - and among them, the colors. Here are our five tips for matching the colors of your outfits.

How to match the colors of your look?

Learning how to match the colors of a look may seem complicated if you don't know too much about fashion. But with these five easy-to-follow tips, it can quickly become a given. Here are the five do's and don'ts to avoid fashion faux pas.

Three colors, no more

The first "rule" to follow when it comes to styling is to wear no more than three colors at a time. Pick one, two, or up to three shades for your outfit and stick to it. By mixing more than three colors, we take the risk of cluttering the silhouette, or downright looking like a clown.

Beware of certain mixtures

Some colors just don't go together. This is the case, for example, of black and navy blue, black and brown, or white and cream. Worn together, these color duos do not create a strong enough contrast for the mixture to be successful. With them, looks often end up dull.

Balance your shades

When choosing the colors for your look, don't just select bright tones. So that your silhouette is not too flashy, prefer neutral, pastel or light tones, and do not add flashy colors only in part. The balance of shades will not only give reinforcement to your outfit , but it will also prevent you from looking "flooded" under a coat of paint... and falling into the famous "fashion faux-pas".

The color tip for prints

Have you chosen a printed part? You will simply have to reproduce the colors (or in any case the dominant color) of the print on the rest of the outfit. For example, if your checkered tie is made up of black, white and red, choose a black suit, a white shirt and possibly cufflinks of the same red.

The colorful accent

If you have opted for a sober look, with neutral colors, you can always bring a "fancy" accent by adding a little touch of color . On a total black look, fancy socks or turquoise laces, for example, will make all the difference.
