5 tips for wearing plaid prints

Wearing the plaid print well is not that simple. Of course, one can simply wear a plaid shirt with jeans and sneakers, but this style can quickly become repetitive. Here are 5 tips for wearing the plaid print in style.

Choose the right tiles

There are dozens of different plaid prints. Some are perfect for casual outfits, like the famous lumberjack plaid print, and some are more suited for dressy outfits. This is often the case with small squares, perfect for giving a little relief under a suit.

Try simple layering

As we told you, the combination of a plaid shirt and jeans can quickly turn into a tasteless outfit. To bring a little style to the silhouette, just play with the layers of clothing, a technique called "layering" in English. And in order not to exaggerate the effect of style, it is enough to choose casual pieces and, preferably, united. We think for example of a sweater in a neutral tone, a denim jacket or a dark scarf.

Repeat print colors

To think outside the box, and by that we mean "to change from the eternal lumberjack shirt matching the jeans", there is a simple trick:repeat the colors of the checks throughout his outfit. If the plaid print you have chosen mixes navy blue, beige and brown, try to wear these colors with the other pieces of your look:with a brown jacket or navy blue pants for example.

Consider plaid accessories

The checked print is worn most of the time on a shirt, sometimes on a jacket, coat or pants. We rarely think of adding a touch of fantasy to our outfit with a simple plaid accessory. However, a tartan tie, gingham socks or a tartan scarf are ideal to take a look out of the ordinary.

Dare the total checked look, in moderation

If you are daring and want to try the total checkered look, don't try mixing prints right away. To be sure not to make mistakes, choose the same plaid print for all the pieces of your look (jacket, vest, and pants, for example) and prefer dark or neutral colors.
