Shoes for a better world

Traditional fabric shoes from the Asian, African and South American continents are popular! Behind this trend often hides good deeds.

Shoes for a better world

Repetto teamed up in the space of two months with two big names in music and fashion:Stromae and M - Matthieu Chedid. Last month, with their Mosaert label, Stromae and his wife, Coralie Barbier, put together a whole collection of clothes inspired by their trips to Japan. The Asian-inspired prints are the opposite of the patterns to which Stromae had accustomed its audience, closer to traditional African fabrics.

Traditional African fabrics

These traditional African fabrics, it is Matthieu Chedid who uses them this month to sublimate the "Zizi" of Repetto . M wishes to adorn the feet of "all these young Americanized 'Nike' from head to toe" with its models from April 25th. All profits will be donated to the Donko Seko association which works in Mali through dance with young people in difficulty.

The ethical brand Panafrica , which is unveiling a brand new site this month, produces shoes covered in traditional West African fabrics, not their Chinese knockoffs. Panafrica has its models made in Morocco with respect for the employees; and donates part of its profits to educational associations in Burkina Faso, Benin and Cameroon. The brand is currently thinking about an eco-responsible transition.

Traditional South American fabrics

Inkkas handmade shoes with traditional South American fabrics. Their creation helps the local Peruvian communities whose workforce comes from and respects the environment. Inkkas notably offers a vegan collection and is committed to replanting a tree for each product sold. Doing good deeds has rarely looked so stylish!
